Lily Collins offers pretty nifty answer to major affordability criticism of Emily in Paris-Tori Brazier-Entertainment – Metro

Ahead of the imminent return of Emily in Paris for season three, star Lily Colins has offered her take on a central mystery of the show.
Alongside its gorgeous Parisian locations, it’s fair to say that a major star of the series is, of course, fashion.
Emily herself seemingly has clothes for every occasion, multiple outfits per day and never knowingly says no to an accessory – but how on earth can she afford it all on a marketing executive’s salary?
I mean, we’re talking designer threads here like Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Elie Saab and the like.
However, 33-year-old Lily has a couple of theories.
Speaking on the red carpet the New York City screening earlier this week at the French Consulate, Lily said: ‘I love this idea of the suspension of disbelief that this girl just loves fashion so much.’

‘I like to think she and Mindy [Ashley Park] have a giant storage unit of clothes they share, or maybe Emily does a clothing rental situation,’ she then offered in response.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, the star also said that viewers can expect Emily’s style to ‘start looking a little more French as she finds inspiration from friends and co-workers’ and settles into her new adopted home more.
‘She’s still bright, bold and all the things I love about Emily, but it’s a little more pared down and sophisticated,’ she added.
Lily’s co-star Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, who plays Emily’s sassy, intimidating and downright fashionable Sylvie Grateau, also recently revealed that a savage ‘politically incorrect’ joke was cut from the pilot episode.

However, having initially read it, it just made her appreciate her character even more.
Reflecting on the script, she told host Reshma Gopaldas at a screening of the first episode at New York’s 92NY on Wednesday: ‘There’s a line that they cut, but I loved it.

‘Where I offer Emily a cigarette and she says, “No, I’m not smoking. Smoking can kill you.” And Sylvie answers, “Better dead than fat”.
‘That is obviously so politically incorrect that they cut it. But I just loved Sylvie because of that, because of the political incorrectness.’
Emily In Paris season 3 is released on Netflix on December 21.
