Ryan Reynolds joined celebrity football fans hailing Argentina’s win against France as ‘the greatest ever’ World Cup ever.
In quite possibly the most intense game yet, Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria scored to put Argentina 2-0 up at the half-hour mark, with Kylian Mbappe scoring a sensational hat-trick.
After both teams drew 3-3, the game went to penalties with Argentina winning the shoot-out 4-2.
Following the spectacular win, the likes of Piers Morgan and Dan Walker congratulated the Argentina captain and his squad.
Deadpool legend Reynolds enthused: ‘My god, #FIFAWorldCup. This game is a gorgeous, evil curse. I love it so much make it stop.’
TalkTV broadcaster Morgan declared: ‘Greatest ever World Cup Final in the greatest ever World Cup. Utterly thrilling. What an advert for the beautiful game.’
Match of the Day host Gary Lineker said: ‘Glorious. Truly glorious. Congratulations Argentina. You deserved it. Messi deserves it.’
In a separate tweet, he added: ‘BREAKING: Argentina win the World Cup on penalties. What a game. Incredible drama. Congrats to Lionel Messi & his team. Commiserations to the French who gave it everything, especially the brilliant Mbappe. Football eh.. bloody hell!’
English comedian David Baddiel wrote: ‘What a f****g game this is. The World Cup final is almost never like this.

Channel 5 presenter Dan Walker tweeted: ‘It doesn’t get better than that. Sport, football, drama, twists, turns… everything… on the biggest stage. Mbappe played like a king but the crown goes to Messi and Argentina #WorldCupFinal.
Scandal actress Kerry Washington also wrote: ‘What a game!!!!! Wow. #WorldCupFinal Messi is a GIANT. But Mbappe is my fave. Felicidades a Argentina. Incroyable effort de la France.’
