Anthea Turner wouldn’t mind reviving her hit Perfect Housewife series as she believes we all need to ‘get back to the basics.’

The former GMTV presenter, 62, fronted the BBC Three series in 2006 which helped women run their homes efficiently.

During the series Anthea would advise various housewives by giving tips in the art of housekeeping, homemaking and hostessing.

And nearly 16 years on, she believes now is the time for the beloved programme to return.

‘There’s never been a time when people’s homes needed more looking after and we needed perfect housewives back,’ she said.

The Blue Peter star also stressed that it’s important for everyone to ‘clean and cook from scratch.’

‘I think the problem with this new generation of women is they haven’t had anyone to teach them. It’s not their fault, we sold them the dream and a few practicalities need brushing up on now. So Turner’s here,’ she told the Daily Mail newspaper’s Eden Confidential column.

Anthea recently left fans lost for words after a resurfaced clip showed the host getting blown up in a horror accident.

Back in 1989, the star hosted a segment for the BBC’s Saturday morning children’s show UP2U – which ran for two seasons – featuring a motorcycle display team to tie into the Royal Tournament.

She was sat on the tailgate of a van introducing the stunt when some apparent miscommunication led to the motorbike bursting out of the back with some pyrotechnics, sending Anthea, then 26, flying.

She caught on fire in the terrifying incident – which was broadcast live from Manchester in the first episode of the second series on July 15, 1989 – and suffered burns to her face and hands, while her hair and jacket were ablaze.

In a TV interview after the accident, Anthea – who went on to host Blue Peter explained: ‘When the motorbike came flying out, he brushes my arm, pushes me towards the pyrotechnic, which sets fire to my hair, my sleeve, the back of my hand.

‘I was actually very, very lucky that I got out with my life.’
