Broadcaster James Whale has confirmed to his followers that he will remain in hospital after a recent series of blood transfusions didn’t go well.
The 71-year-old has terminal cancer of the brain, spine, kidney, and lungs.
He was initially diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2000 and had a kidney removed, but declined chemotherapy at the time.
In 2020, two decades on, he revealed that it had spread to other parts of his body.
The TalkTV host took to Twitter to update people on Monday, revealing that he wouldn’t be leaving hospital any time soon.
‘Sorry to say guys, a lot of people asking how my blood transfusions went,’ he wrote.

‘Unfortunately they didn’t do the trick. Apparently I have lungs full of blood clots so they’re keeping me in to clear them out and hopefully it won’t take too long. XXX’
He previously shared a picture of himself in hospital on Sunday from his hospital bed, joking: ‘Not sure if this is the look, I should be going for!! But you never know I could start a new trend.’
The veteran presenter recently made an increasingly rare public appearance at the British Curry Awards last month and spoke movingly to the audience about living with terminal cancer.
He told the assembled guests: ‘I know a lot of you won’t like me, but this time next year I won’t be here. I have terminal cancer.’
He reflected on his experience with chemotherapy, saying: ‘As you might be able to hear, I am having chemotherapy which makes it harder for me to breathe, but I’m OK. Don’t worry.’
He added: ‘I am in my 70s now and I just want to say don’t waste your time on stupid things that don’t matter.’
James also referenced his friend, businessman Enam Ali, who died in July after a two year battle with cancer.
The presenter attended the event at London’s Battersea Evolution with his wife, Nadine Talbot-Brown, whom he married in October 2021.

The couple matched in smart blue outfits, after James revealed their engagement – but kept Nadine’s identity a secret – last May.
He wrote on his personal account: ‘Breaking news over this weekend of my birthday I have to announce that I have become engaged- to whom I will reveal later!’
Their engagement came three years after James’ late wife Melinda died from stage four lung cancer.
