Love Island star Liberty Poole was trembling when she issued a warning after being followed by a stranger.
Taking to Instagram, a visibly shaken Liberty went into detail about what had happened and urged women watching to follow their gut should they find themselves in a similar situation.
Liberty, 23, explained via an Instagram video that she’d stepped out for a spot of shopping when she noticed a suspicious-looking man looking her ‘up and down’.
The reality star, who has 1.4 million followers, said the man’s gaze made her uneasy so she asked the shop’s security guard to walk her to her car, but that didn’t stop the stranger from trying to get her attention.
Sitting in the back of her car after the incident, Liberty – who had ventured out to collect a parcel and stopped to grab some shopping – shared: ‘There was this guy and as soon as he saw me, you know when your gut instinct is telling you something is up, and he basically looked me up and down and then all of a sudden was on his phone.
‘Then he was following me and looking at me in the aisles and I said to the guy inside, “look I feel off about this guy in there just to let you know”.’

Liberty continued: ‘When I was doing my shopping he went outside and waited in his car and then I said to the security guard, “please can you walk me to my car”.
‘By the time he saw me ask the security guard, basically he left so I thought it was safe, so I walked up to my car and he followed me to my car.’
Liberty, who has also appeared on ITV’s Dancing On Ice, went on: ‘I had shopping bags and a parcel in my hand so I wouldn’t be able to defend myself and he said “excuse me” and I went “no f**k off” so loudly that I think it scared him and he drove off.
‘I’m not one to swear but I was just shaking. I’m a young woman on my own, I felt vulnerable. Please do not not follow girls on their own, they don’t want the attention.’
‘At the end of the day you’re going to scare them and also just making girls aware if you have a gut instinct or you think something is off, please just be safe,’ Liberty added, offering her followers a word of warning.
Once she was safely home, Liberty also posted a follow-up video for concerned fans, telling them: ‘Thank you for all the messages, I’m home safe. I’m just a bit shaken up and feel like I’ve escaped something really bad. My gut instinct was screaming at me that something was wrong and then for him to follow me back to my car which wasn’t near the shop.
In May, Liberty and Kaz Kamwi were held at knifepoint in LA (Picture: Instagram)
‘It’s just so scary to think what could have happened but luckily I’m safe.’
It’s not the first time in recent months that Liberty has found herself in a terrifying situation.
Back in May, she and her fellow Love Island star Kaz Kamwi were held at knifepoint in Los Angeles while visiting the west coast for Coachella.
Taking to social media at the time, the pair shared a joint video message revealing they’d been approached by a 40-year-old woman wielding a knife.
Reflecting on the terrifying ordeal, Liberty said: ‘Obviously, it was a scary incident that happened on Thursday, but we didn’t want it to affect the rest of our holiday so we’ve just been continuing on as normal and living our best lives.
‘And obviously, it’s horrible that that happened, but we’re OK and that’s the main thing that we’re safe.’
Liberty and Kaz were said to be heading to a party but accidentally got out of their car in the ‘wrong part of the neighbourhood’ and ran into trouble.
Liberty found fame on 2021’s instalment of Love Island and was coupled up with Jake Cornish, leaving many convinced they could win the series.

But, as is so often the case with the ITV reality show, their romance crashed and burned and the pair went their separate ways.
After the show aired, it was revealed that Liberty and Jake actually gave their romance another pop, but alas, it just wasn’t meant to be.
