Every year, the Royal Variety Performance takes place at the Royal Albert Hall.

The dazzling entertainment show fundraises for the Royal Variety Charity – and has been a staple in the Royal Family calendar since 1912, when it was launched by King George V.

Nowadays, around 152 million people tune in on TVs across the globe to watch the range of performances – from world-class musical numbers to hilarious comedy sketches.

Of course, 2022’s Royal Variety Performance will also pay a special tribute to the charity’s late patron, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

So, who’ll be there this year? And what time can you watch? Let’s find out.

Who will appear on the Royal Variety Performance?

This year’s Royal Variety Performance will be hosted by comedian Lee Mack.

Mack, 54, is known for his dry wit on shows Would I Lie To You? and Not Going Out, as well as for his stand-up.

However, he won’t be the only comedian there, with perfmances to come from Al Murray, Omid Djalili and Maisie Adam. Britain’s Got Talent 2022 winner Axel Blake, also a comic, will perform too.

Music is also an essential part of the Royal Variety Performance.

Jazz legend Gregory Porter and Hollywood star Rita Wilson will perform a duet for the very first time.

Other singers include Eurovision runner-up Sam Ryder, pop stars Ellie Goulding, George Ezra and Becky Hill, disco legends Nile Rodgers and CHIC – plus there’ll be a soprano serenade from Egyptian opera singer Fatma Said.

There’ll even be a rendition of football anthem Three Lions by Frank Skinner, David Baddiel and The Lightning Seeds – which Frank says went down ‘awkwardly’ with Sophie, The Countess of Wessex.

In tribute to the late Queen, West End composer Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Take That singer Gary Barlow, choirmaster Gareth Malone and the London Youth Choir will perform a special rendition of Sing.

Musicals Cabaret and Disney’s Newsies will also delight with musical and dance numbers from their shows.

Beyond the music, Cirque Du Soleil will put on a no-doubt jaw-dropping show, as will Giffords Circus – with a magic set also due from The Ehrlich Brothers.
