The Traitors star Aisha Birley has revealed what viewers don’t get to see that goes on between the players of Claudia Winkleman’s BBC game show.

The reality series that had the nation hooked officially came to an end on Thursday, with Faithfuls Meryl WilliamsAaron Evans and Hannah Byczkowski being crowned winners and taking home the £101,050 prize.

The ultimate Traitor Wilfred Webster was finally banished, after notoriously backstabbing his fellow Traitors Amanda Lovett and Alyssa Chan and Kieran Tompsett.

Aisha was the first contestant to be ‘murdered’ in the middle of the night by Wilf, Amanda and Alyssa, and although she may not have been on our screens for very long, she’s revealed what viewers haven’t had a peak into – from unaired conversations to intense emotions.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, Aisha revealed that watching the contestants on screen shocked her, having already seen a different side to them.

‘In one way or form, they [all] go in there pretending to be someone a little bit different to who they really are. Like obviously, Maddy [Smedley] is very Stacey Solomon-ey but in real life, she’s not as much like that.

‘And just little things like that, like Alyssa is a lot more confident in real life, and then there are other people who are more laid back. So I think everybody just plays to their strengths and weaknesses in the actual show.’

She added that the close bonds between the contestants weren’t shown either, or conversations like Aisha telling John McManus that she found Aaron to be ‘fit’.

Meanwhile, off-screen, the players were even closer to host Claudia, as Aisha said: ‘I don’t think they’ll ever reveal where we stay, or more of Claudia’s involvement, because Claudia is very involved.

‘She really cares about us all,’ she added, recalling a hilarious moment where Claudia reassured Andrea Addison after Amos Ogunkoya and Kieran were ‘eliminated’ on the first day.

‘She got rid of Kieran and Amos, and Andrea was like “I was ready to throw her off that balcony,” and said to her face!

‘And Claudia was like, “It’s going to be fine, it’s going to be fine.” Obviously not knowing they were bringing them back but she probably knew that, and she was like, “Don’t worry, it’s going to be fine.”‘

Aisha elsewhere told us that viewers didn’t get to see aspects of her personality.

‘I think my personality didn’t come through a lot because you see that side of me being a b**ch. You didn’t see the relationships I had with people, like you never see me and John together on screen and we were so close, and even me and Aaron, and there’s a bit where Ivan [Brett] says to him, “You fancy her, she fancied you, do you think that was they murdered her so they think it’s you?”

‘Maddy [Smedley] is very Stacey Solomon-ey but in real life, she’s not as much like that,’ Aisha added (Picture: BBC)

‘But then viewers never saw me and Aaron together, so they’re probably like, “What?”

‘So I think there’s a lot of elements like those kind of things that you never see.’

‘Theo is very emotional and very in touch with his feelings, and he cries a lot,’ Aisha added, continuing: ‘And you don’t get to see that side.

‘And John as well, is the loveliest man you’ll ever meet, but he just seemed to be attacking Aaron all the time, and same again, Aaron can be quite irritating at times but all you see of him is that he’s like this sweet, innocent person.

‘I think obviously it is dependant on who stays and who goes out, depending on that will altar people’s relationships and friendships, and it will also altar the way that people again act on screen – like I didn’t get time to show all my personality.

‘Maybe it was probably for the best though,’ she joked.

The Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
