Alan Carr had a bit of an unfortunate start to his Christmas Day after being unable to wash out some red hairspray.

The comedian, 46, shared a selfie of the frustrating results, with bits of colourant rubbed all over his hairline and his locks still tinted.

‘You know those “fun” Christmas hairsprays that wash out after one shampoo – they don’t,’ Alan wrote.

‘And oh Merry Christmas 🎅.’

It’s fair to say Alan’s post left many amused, with Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts responding: ‘Hahahah merry Xmas gorge.’

‘Brightened my day!! Merry Christmas to you and yours Alan,’ another added.

Others offered their two sense in the hopes that Alan would soon be free of his hair dye blunder.

‘Use washing up liquid that will help,’ one suggested, while another insisted: ‘Try hand sanitizer – shifts most colours.’

Last month, Alan revealed that he will star as himself in a new biographical comedy series with a little help from the production team behind Gavin & Stacey.

The comedian has had the upcoming sitcom, entitled Changing Ends, commissioned by ITV, and it will follow his life story.

Bafta-winning TV writer Simon Carlyle will help to develop the series after having success in recent years with Scottish sitcom Two Doors Down.

Changing Ends will follow Alan’s life as a young boy growing up in Northampton while his dad, Graham, manages the town’s Football League team.

Speaking about the upcoming show, which doesn’t have a concrete release date yet, Alan promised fans that it would contain lots of nostalgia and football.

‘If someone had told little old me back in Northampton that ITV would give me my own sitcom based on my life, I would have choked on my Flumps.’

He continued: ‘Super proud that I can share my story with you – expect lots of giggles, pathos and nostalgia and believe it or not football – who knew?’

The series is slated to start filming early in 2023, with plans for it to reach ITV before the end of the year.
