Piers Morgan is no doubt counting his lucky stars after having his Twitter account quietly restored following a hacking job.

The Uncensored presenter appeared to be locked out of his account on Tuesday after hackers took over his Twitter and posted a string of offensive tweets about the late Queen Elizabeth II, racial slurs and even a death hoax about controversial personality Andrew Tate.

All tweets on Piers’ page, as well as his display picture and banner, were completely wiped as the issue was resolved behind-the-scenes.

On Wednesday, the broadcaster’s account – which boasts 8.3million followers – appeared to be back to normal with tweets as recently as Monday restored and his picture back in its place, although he is yet to share his first tweet since returning.

It comes after the team behind the Twitter account for his TalkTV series Uncensored pleaded with the platform’s boss Elon Musk to take action after the hacking.

‘In case you were wondering, @piersmorgan has been hacked. Any chance of getting him back, @elonmusk?’ they wrote.

Piers’ son Spencer Morgan couldn’t resist poking fun at his dad’s misery and joked: ‘Can’t believe I now have the biggest twitter account in my family. Never thought this day would come.’

The former Good Morning Britain presenter is currently enjoying time off from his TV commitments over the Christmas period and is on holiday abroad, with Uncensored currently airing interviews from throughout the year such as Piers’ controversial chat with Kanye West.

Spencer revealed: ‘Obviously dad’s finally been hacked. Ideal when he’s in a different time zone.’

Piers is an avid user of Twitter, using it to voice his opinions on topics ranging from Cristiano Ronaldo’s status among the best footballers of all time to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and their Netflix series.
