The cause of death of actor Tyler Sanders has been revealed after the Fear the Walking Dead star died earlier this year at the age of 18.

In June, it was announced that Sanders had died, having become known for performances in TV series including 9-1-1: Lone Star and Just Add Magic: Mystery City, for which he was nominated for an Emmy.

The teenager’s cause of death was unknown at the time ahead of an investigation and an autopsy.

According to TMZ, the autopsy report has been released by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, confirming that his death was accidental.

It’s been reported that he died from the effects of fentanyl, before he was found at his home in Los Angeles on June 16.

It’s alleged that the night before his death, Sanders texted a friend saying that he was using fentanyl and later didn’t pick up phone calls from the friend in question.

Sanders posted his last Instagram picture days before his death, posing in a blue suit in front of a scenic background as he captioned the image: ‘Styling.’

Following his death, tributes poured in from fans, with one writing on Instagram: ‘So sad, gone too soon and way to young to die. Rest easy buddy. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you on 911 Lonestar.’

‘We miss you Tyler. 💔 Rest in peace 🕊,’ someone else said, while another wrote: ‘You left the world too soon 💔 You’ll be missed.’

Sanders played the younger version of Jake Otto in Fear The Walking Dead, a spin-off of the original series The Walking Dead, with the older version of the character portrayed by Sam Underwood.

Some of his other credits included appearing in The Rookie, the police procedural crime drama led by Nathan Fillion; The Price We Pay; and Escaping My Stalker.

He was first featured in Just Add Magic in 2019, before appearing in all 10 episodes of the spin-off series, Just Add Magic: Mystery City, as Leo.

At last year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, Sanders received a nod for Outstanding Principal Performance in a Children’s Program.
