Dannii Minogue has shared a tribute to Bobby Driessen, who she grew up performing with on Young Talent Time.

From 1982 until 1988 Dannii, 51, appeared on the Australian television variety program, which featured a core group of young performers who would sing classic songs as well as hits of the day.

It launched the career of not only Dannii, but Sally Boyden and Tina Arena, while Kylie, 54, also appeared on the show in 1986 where she sung a cover of Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves with Dannii.

For a year Dannii also worked on the show with Driessen, who was part of the regular cast from 1979 until 1983.

This week it was announced that he had died, aged 56, after passing away in his sleep.

His cause of death has not yet been released.

Posting to Instagram after hearing the news, Dannii shared a black-and-white photo of the Young Talent Time cast, writing: ‘Bobby was a kind gentle soul, with bucketloads of charisma’.

‘We were a family on Young Talent Time. Bobby will be missed by his family, friends and fans. Vale Bobby Driessen,’ she added.

Her post was met with many condolence messages, with Blue Wiggle Anthony Field commenting he was ‘so sorry’.

Driessen’s death was revealed publicly by the official Facebook page for Young Talent Time, which ran from 1971 until 1988.

‘All of us here at Young Talent Time, are incredibly saddened to hear the news of Bobby Driessen, one of our beloved team members, has passed away in his sleep. Only 56 years old, way too young to have left us. Bobby you will be sadly missed,’ the statement read.

Host Johnny Young wrote in his own tribute that Bobby ‘was one of the most popular members of the Young Talent team”.

‘He was a gentle, loving young man who still has many fans. Thanks for the many great shows we did together. Bobby, we will never forget you,’ he added.

Tina also said that he was ‘the sweetest man’.

While a reunion show for Young Talent Time aired last year, Driessen was notably absent.

In a Facebook post, the show’s official page said that they had been unable to ‘track him down’.

After leaving Young Talent Time in 1983, Driessen largely left the spotlight apart from one appearance in Neighbours in 1985.
