Sophie Ellis-Bextor had viewers of The Last Leg in disbelief it’s been two decades since she shot to fame as she looks pretty much the exact same.

The singer, 43, has been a household name since bursting onto the scene with massive hits Murder On The Dance Floor and Groovejet, both released in 2001.

During the pandemic the mum-of-five enjoyed a surge in popularity as she entertained the nation with her lockdown Kitchen Discos – however others may not have seen her since she was a 21-year-old singing about killing the groove.

This changed on Saturday as Sophie appeared on the New Year’s Eve special of Channel 4 comedy show The Last Leg, where she sang songs, told stories and opened a bottle of beer with her teeth. Legend.

The mum-of-five looked stunning in a body-hugging lime green dress, along with sparkling eyeshadow and red lipstick complete with high heels.

And viewers quickly flocked to Twitter where they all said the same thing – how has she not changed at all in 20 years?

‘Does Sophie Ellis-Bextor age?!’ one person wrote.

‘Looking at Sophie Ellis Bextor, it’s hard to believe “Groovejet” came out 21 years ago,’ another user wrote.

Another agreed: ‘Sophie Ellis Bextor simply never ages. Unreal,’ while as one person put it: ‘Sophie Ellis Bextor has not aged in 20 years.’

Sophie recently had a stunning performance in Edinburgh for the city’s massive Hogmanay celebrations which kicked off on December 30.

Speaking about the show, Sophie said: ‘Edinburgh’s New Year celebrations are legendary, and I can’t wait to get the party started with new friends from all over the world.

‘Dancing shoes and singing voices are a must for everyone!’

And in a recent interview with Metro, she put to rest the rumour that had ‘dogged’ her for years – that she had rejected track Can’t Get You Out of My Head, before it became a hit for Kylie Minogue in 2001.

‘There’s always been this myth that has dogged me, the fact that I supposedly turned down [that song]. But it’s not true. I never did,’ she clarified.
