While The Masked Singer fans have been in awe over the majority of the series 4 costumes, many have been left wondering if ITV ‘ran out of budget’ for Ghost’s disguise.

Ghost was unveiled as football pundit Chris Kamara during Sunday’s episode, with the presenter’s identity going undetected by judges Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan.

Before his exit, Kammy, 65, performed Save the Last Dance for Me by The Drifters in a Scottish accent, which he later mocked.

But audiences were totally distracted by his rather lacklustre costume and branded it ‘literally a sheet’.

Flocking to Twitter to express their disappointment, one viewer said: ‘Clearly ran out of budget before they got to the Ghost costume.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another wrote: ‘Ghost showing the cost of living crisis has hit the ITV budget.’

Despite the criticism, some were loving the designers’ handiwork, with one enthusing: ‘I think I’m the only one who loves the simplicity of Ghost’s costume.’

‘Ghosts costume is the worst thing I’ve ever seen and I’m obsessed,’ another fangirled.

Kammy was a big fan of his Ghost costume though, and that’s all that matters.

‘I loved it,’ he exclaimed. ‘It was simple but that’s what I really liked about it.’

He also said he ‘resonated’ with the disguise because of its simplicity. ‘I just loved the concept and thought my grandkids would love it as well,’ Kammy added.

He did, however, find the costume difficult to sing in though. ‘I never realised how hard that would be,’ he told ITV. ‘It’s very claustrophobic.’

Following his exit, Kammy shared the adorable moment his grandkids watched him being unmasked on the show.

‘It’s my grandad!’ one beamed while sitting on Kammy’s knee.

Next Saturday, the remaining characters – Fawn, Jacket Potato, Piece of Cake, Pigeon, Rhino, and Rubbish – will be taking to the stage to sing in disguise.

The Masked Singer continues on Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
