Fashion expert shares three ways to make your clothes last longer but people are horrified but his washing tip

IT’S more important now than ever that we prolong the life of our clothes.

Sometimes it is better to spend a bit more on a higher quality garment or take something old and make something new out of it.

But how far are you willing to go to make sure something lasts.

Chris Maddox is a fashion and lifestyle influencer, he shares fashion and lifestyle tips for men.

But Chris has recently shared a controversial video which has got everyone talking.

Chris shared a video with three things he advises you to stop doing to help prolong the life of your clothes.

Chris said: “Stop doing these three things that are destroying your clothes.”

Tip number one: Washing your clothes too often.

Chris said: “Number one you’re washing your clothes too often. If you wear a shirt one time you don’t need to wash it. It breaks down the fibres and it causes the colour to fade.”

He said: “If you’ve got an odour that you’re trying to get rid of and you don’t want to wash your clothes, fold them up and throw them in the freezer overnight. The cold air will destroy the bacteria and your all set.”

Tip number two: Hanging up your sweaters.

Chris said: “Number two you have got to stop hanging up your sweaters. The sweaters are too heavy so when they’re on the hanger it stretches out the collar, not good.”

Tip number three: Forgetting to button the top button on your shirts.

Chris said: “Number three you’re forgetting to button the top button of your shirts when you hang them up. Go in your closet button that top button. This will maintain the structure of the shirt.”

Chris’s video gained over 332,000 views.

And whilst most viewers agreed the second and third tips sounded pretty reasonable they were completely horrified and baffled by the first tip.

Many commenters testified they refused to put their clothes in the freezer or stop washing them after one use.

One commenter said: “There is no way that I am going to stop washing my clothes. When my clothes fade or get stretchy I will buy new ones.”

A second commenter said: “So you mean to tell me to put dirty bacteria clothes in the freezer with food?”

A third commenter said: “I genuinely sweat way too much to wear shirts more than once.”
