I’m a style expert and I keep seeing women looking cheap – don’t wear bright colours and leave obnoxious patterns too

LOOKING elegant often comes with your wardrobe – and according to one expert, there are a few things no classy fashionistas would wear.

Offering a helping to those style lovers looking to elevate their appearance in 2023, Ashlee Jaine (@ashleejaine) took to TikTok to share some tips.

Ditch the bright neons and go for a more timeless wardrobeGetty

The first major mistake, the whizz revealed in her video, is opting for bright colours, such as neon pink and lime green.

Whilst it may have been a trend in summer, the guru insisted they have no place in an elegant lady’s outfit.

She reckoned such hues can ”really hurt the eyes and cheapen” the overall look – and same goes for patterns, whether they’re dated or on-trend.

”Rather than incorporating those bright colours or those obnoxious patterns try opting for a more timeless, neutral colour palette.”

If patterns are a must in your wardrobe, Ashlee recommended choosing more timeless options, such as plaid or houndstooth, both of which will never go out of fashion.

Another trend to best steer clear of is embellishments, for instance, sequins, studs and shiny rhinestones.

”Anything like that can really cheapen not only the piece that it’s on but your overall look.

Instead of wearing garments with studs and feathers, Ashlee advised her 30k followers to stick to accessorising and accenting with dainty jewellery.

Sharing her thoughts, the whizz added: ”Trends are usually on their way out of the door by the time that we come across them.

”If you try to go too trendy, you can really cheapen your overall look, especially if you’re trying to carry them into a new season or a new year after they have long well expired.”

The solution, she pointed out, is quite simple – opting for a more timeless wardrobe.

”Invest in some staple closet pieces that never go out of style.”

But despite the guru’s recommendations it seems that the viewers won’t stick to them any time soon, especially after they had noticed what Ashlee was wearing.

One TikTok fan chuckled: ”Not you coming after us with those earrings!!!”

Another agreed, adding: ”Sis those earrings should’ve been out the door.”

Someone else hit back at Ashlee, writing: ”How about.. Wear whatever you want ladies, wear whatever makes YOU feel good!!

”Who cares what ANYONE else thinks.”

”Why can’t people wear clothes with out it being a “trend” maybe they just like what they are wearing not everyone cares what people think,” a fourth was not impressed with Ashlee’s opinion.

Another big no-no, she revealed, is embellished clothingGetty
