The candidates who take part in The Apprentice do so in the hope that they’ll bag an astonishing £250,000 investment in the end.
But the path to reach their goal isn’t a smooth-sailing one, with Lord Alan Sugar putting the contestants to the test through a set of gruelling tasks – and this week is no different.
In episode two of the BBC series, which airs tonight, the girls’ and boys’ teams (as they remain in the same groups for a second week running) are tasked with manufacturing savoury bao buns for members of the public and sweet buns for a corporate client in order to make a winning profit.
As this exclusive clip shared by Metro.co.uk demonstrates, making bao buns is no easy feat in the kitchen, not to mention bao buns that high-end clients would be willing to spend significant amounts of money on.
Bao buns are steamed buns that are meant to be warm and fluffy, made with a delicious sweet dough.
However, the boys’ bao buns couldn’t have looked any less appetising if they tried.

In the clip, the cameras turned first to the girls’ team, who created gourmet-looking bao buns, complete with flower petals on top.
Speaking about their commission for a gold brand, Marnie Swindells said: ‘We were clear about the golf brand. If we don’t deliver a great product, I think it could be very costly for us.’
Fortunately, the bao buns suffered no splits and looked ‘gorgeous’, the girls remarked.

The same couldn’t be said for the boys’ team… who lifted the lid on their bao buns with expressions of horror on their faces.
As they looked at their culinary creations, which were coloured blue, they realised that the majority, if not all of them had split and burst.
‘Basically what’s happened here is they’ve been rolled too thin, they’re just splitting,’ one of the candidates said about the buns that they’d made for their corporate clients.
They attempted to pick out the ‘good ones’ from the bunch – but it was honestly slim pickings.

‘The guy had quite high expectations for these things,’ one of the boys said about their client, as someone else picked up one of the atrocious bao buns and stated: ‘That one is absolutely trollied. We’re not gonna be using that.’
Lord Sugar’s aide, Tim Campbell, looked extremely unamused by their lack of achievement,
After one of the boys expressed their fear of the bao buns being sent back by the client, Sohail Chowdhary admitted to the camera: ‘I’m not gonna lie, I’m very very worried about the corporate order.
‘I’m not sure what was going on on that side of the team. That looked like a mess.’
Time will tell if their kitchen mishap will result in them losing the task, and potentially put one of the boys on the chopping block.
The Apprentice returns tonight at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
