A former Love Island Australia contestant has defended social media comments she made where she appeared to compare being transgender to a ‘mental illness’.

Isabelle Green appeared on the second season of the reality dating series in 2019, making it about halfway through before being dumped.

In the years since she started a family and has largely stayed out of the headlines.

That is until, she posted on social media on Thursday, resharing a meme that read: ‘Your ancestors who were bombed in trenches watching you have a panic attack when you forget your cherry vape at home.’

Captioning the post, she wrote: ‘No offence… but wtf happened to our generation?!.’

She also added: ‘This whole trans[gender] thing, nope not for me.’

‘It’s got to stop — it’s called mental illness. Kkk [sic] bye.’

Isabelle then went on to defend her comments, adding that she believed paedophiles are transitioning to be able to re-offend.

‘When referring to ‘mental illness’ there’s a dangerous loophole paedophiles are using to transition, use a new identity & then come back into society as this new person to then re-offend, rape & molest children because they cannot be tracked,’ she said in a statement to So Dramatic!.

‘It’s a whole movement and it’s very dangerous for children.

‘There’s also trans-child & furies [sic] which are generally adult males who have decided they’re now a “child” and/or “animal” and have been allowed to play with small children, use their amenities etc and there’s been many cases of these children then being abused.’

In her statement Isabelle then went on to write that ‘the trans loophole is being used to abuse children’.

‘As a mother it’s highly disturbing & I know many parents feel the same.’

‘Do I hate or dislike trans people? No not at all, they can do whatever they like to their body, it’s got nothing to do with me.’

However she did say that ‘when it affects my child or their safety, then yes I will voice my opinion’.

She continued: ‘Child sex offenders should not be allowed to transition, period. Because they are 100% suffering from a mental illness. And we should at all costs be protecting the safety of our children.

‘We live in a society where you say one thing against a popular opinion that’s trending & suddenly you apparently hate everyone. People need to realise there’s multiple sides & facets to everything.’

While Isabelle has now made her Instagram private, comments slamming her flooded the So Dramatic! page, including one that called her remarks and subsequent response ‘horrific’.

‘As a trans person I find this absolutely horrific that she has any platform or income from her social media,’ one person wrote.
