Myleene Klass has shared a raw and honest account of suffering four miscarriages before welcoming her youngest son Apollo.

The 43-year-old musician is mum to daughters Ava, 14 and Hero, 10, with her ex Graham Quinn, and to son Apollo, two, with partner Simon Motson.

Former Hear’Say star Myleene has been open about suffering miscarriages while trying to have a baby with Simon, and previously appearing in documentary Miscarriage & Me.

The star went through four pregnancy losses while trying to conceive, including having to endure one miscarriage while hosting her radio show.

Now Myleene has shared the news that she has become an ambassador for UK charity Tommy’s, which researches and supports women after miscarriages, stillbirth and premature birth.

Myleene made the announcement on Thursday as she posted a gorgeous video to Instagram of the seconds after Apollo’s birth, when she was handed her son to hold for the first time.

She said she chose to share the video as it reveals ‘the utter trauma, pain, fear and relief after never daring to believe this moment would actually come, that I would finally hold my son in my arms and bring him home.’

Followers on her social media see ‘the seemingly perfect side of my life,’ she said, but ‘there is another side and for me, losing a baby near enough every year for four consecutive years turned me into someone I didn’t recognise.’

‘When I finally fell pregnant with Apollo, I had gotten to a point where I didn’t believe in my body anymore, seeing a pram in the park, an advert on the train, another gender reveal online, it was mentally debilitating.’

She recalled the ‘army’ of friends it took to get her to this point, and spoke about her work to lobby the government to change the current health system which only offers medical intervention once a woman has suffered three consecutive miscarriages.

Speaking about her new work with Tommy’s, she admitted she ‘never imagined this as the path I would find myself on but I have a voice and platform that I will continue to use to call for an ultimately secure change.’

‘It would be easier to move on from this and just live my life but I owe it to my children, my friends and family who both stood by me and who also experienced this trauma themselves and ultimately to my angel babies, that their limited tiny heartbeats on this earth were not in vain.’

Myleene captioned the sweet video of her holding newborn Apollo: ‘The moment that I thought would never come.

‘I only got to hold my son because so many arms held me and now, it’s my turn as I become an ambassador for [Tommy’s.]’

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star first discussed her miscarriages in 2020 to mark Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, explaining the trauma she went through.

Myleene lost two pregnancies at 10 weeks, one while at an airport, and her third miscarriage occurred while she was at work.

She said her second was more traumatic than the first, as she believed she’d had her ‘1 in 4’ experience.

An estimated one in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage, and around one in 100 women in the UK experience recurrent miscarriages (three or more in a row).

Myleene’s third child Apollo arrived safely in 2019, with Myleene saying: ‘The Dr’s took no chances with Apollo. I injected countless, endless hormones into my belly to keep my placenta working. He signifies everything good in the world to me, my miracle.’
