Matt Hancock appears to have received ‘special treatment’ during his time filming Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins last year.

The former health secretary battled some brutal training tasks on the Channel 4 show, which is set to air later this year.

Not long later, he headed into the jungle for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in which he, much to the shock of many viewers, made it out third.

The SAS special sees various celebrities and public figures go through a gruelling two weeks undergoing elements of the actual Special Forces selection course under the eyes of Chief Instructor Rudy Reyes, as well as Directing Staff Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox, Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham, and Remi Adeleke.

While it has yet to be officially confirmed who is taking part in the series, there has been much speculation about Hancock’s place on the show, with reports stating he earned £45,000 for the appearance.

Without naming Hancock, ex-army star Foxy spoke on Martin Compston’s podcast Restless Natives about someone who ‘everyone knows who is doing the show’.

‘There’s a celebrity edition featuring the one and only former…’ co-host Gordon Smart began, before Foxy stopped him: ‘That’s not been confirmed yet because the celebrity one doesn’t go out later in the year’.

Hinting about Hancock without naming him, Foxy continued: ‘Well everyone knows, but it’s not been released, so I don’t want to be associated…’

Gordon went on to ask Foxy: ‘Have you ever felt more like water-boarding one of the f*****ts more on the show than someone on the next series of SAS Who Dares Wins?

‘It must have been the closest you’ve been to going, “Get him in there for the special treatment”.’

Jason teased: ‘Well, he got some special treatment – whoever we are talking about…’

While the official line-up for Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins 2023 has yet to be confirmed, it’s been reported that Hancock will star alongside the likes of James Argent and Gareth Gates.

Hancock is yet to declare the amount he was paid to appear on I’m A Celebrity, however, it was reported that he was among the programme’s highest-paid stars, having taken home around £400,000.

He previously stated that he will be donating a chunk of his earnings from the reality series to St Nicholas Hospice Care, a charity he raised almost £8,000 for at last year’s London Marathon.

‘Matt will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk, and he will, of course, declare the amount he receives from the show to Parliament to ensure complete transparency, as normal,’ a source told us.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins returns to Channel 4 later this year.
