David Foster shares fond memories of working with ‘iconic’ artist Lisa Marie Presley after her death aged 54-Emily Bashforth-Entertainment – Metro
He recalled her duetting with her father, Elvis.

David Foster has joined stars paying tribute to Lisa Marie Presley following the shock news of her death at the age of 54.
Presley – the only child of rock and roll singer Elvis Presley – died on January 12, her mother Priscilla confirmed.
Her death came shortly after she was rushed to hospital in cardiac arrest, with later reports stating that she suffered a second cardiac arrest and was pronounced brain dead after her admission to Los Angeles hospital.
Following the heartbreaking announcement, the likes of Austin Butler – who played the Jailhouse Rock singer in his biopic – and director Baz Luhrmann have expressed their sorrow.
Reflecting on what it was like to work with the ‘iconic’ late star, Foster, 73, said he has vivid memories of their time spent together.
‘I clearly remember the day we were in the studio together doing a duet with her father, Don’t Cry Daddy, which was kind of profound in its own way, that she would be singing a duet with her father,’ he began, speaking to People.

‘She just was a hard worker and infectious and fun and irreverent.’
Chatting at the Music Centre in LA for an event honouring Jerry Moss on Saturday evening, he added that he ‘actually liked her music.’
‘I thought her music was cool,’ the Grammy winner admitted.
He confessed to not knowing himself ‘how to make that kind of music,’ but said Presley ‘loved’ that genre.

‘And she made us love it too. So I appreciated her as an artist.’
Foster concluded: ‘It’s a hell of a burden to carry around, to be Elvis’ daughter, and I think she wore it really well.
‘I mean, obviously, the struggles that she had are well documented, but who knows what it was like to walk in her shoes? She was iconic in her own right.’
Foster had other personal connections to Presley in the past, as he was once in a relationship with her father’s ex, Linda Thompson.

Thompson dated the music icon from 1972 until 1976 – and he died the following year.
Foster and Thompson were married from 1991 until 2005 and together they wrote the Whitney Houston power ballad I Have Nothing.
Following her funeral, Presley will be buried at her birthplace, Graceland, next to her son Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in 2020 at the age of 27.

Her resting place is a mansion on a 13.8-acre estate in Memphis, Tennessee, which was once owned by her famous father, before she inherited it when he died. She was just nine at the time.
Now, the sprawling estate will be split between Presley’s 14-year-old twins Harper Vivienne and Finley, and her actress daughter Riley Keough.
