Britain’s Got Talent bosses ‘trying to keep David Walliams’ replacement a secret’ amid reports Bruno Tonioli secures job-Cydney Yeates-Entertainment – Metro

There’s been much speculation over who will replace David Walliams as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, with the latest reports claiming that former Strictly Come Dancing star Bruno Tonioli has secured the role.

It had initially been reported that Bruno, 67, was going head-to-head with comedian Alan Carr, 46, for a spot on the panel, after Graham Norton, 59, had supposedly turned down the job offer.

However, fellow Strictly star Craig Revel Horwood, 58, has poured cold water on speculation that his colleague has definitely bagged the job.

He also claimed that Britain’s Got Talent bosses are keeping Walliams’ replacement under wraps for now.

Joining Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, Craig was asked by presenter Susanna Reid if he could confirm or deny reports that Bruno had joined the adored competition series.

‘I would love to say he is, but I believe he is up against Alan Carr as well,’ he said.

‘I think they’re juggling and they [bosses] are going to save it as a surprise, so I in fact don’t know.’

Craig continued: ‘Bruno is very secretive with me, darling, he will never be honest with me or tell me the truth, so I really don’t know, but I’d love to see Bruno back on our screens and I think it’s a great position to have, so I wish him all the very best if he is in the running for it.’

On Monday, The Sun claimed producers have been finalising a deal with Bruno for the past week.

A TV insider said: ‘For almost two months, Alan may have been the favourite to take over from David, but Bruno was always Simon’s preferred choice.

‘Not only does he have years of judging experience under his belt from his time on Strictly, he will bring an outrageous brand of comedy that BGT needs on the panel.’

The source added: ‘After intense negotiations, they’ve managed to reach an agreement that will now see him return to prime time Saturday night TV in the UK.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
