A new Channel 4 documentary is set to explore swallowing capsules of ‘perfect poos’ in a bid to aide your gut health.

Yep, you read that right – the programme will see a revolutionary new method of faecal transplant which uses tablets of poo samples for people who have poor guy microbiobes.

Hosted by identical twins Alana and Lisa MacFarlane, known online as the Mac Twins, Know Your S**T: Inside Our Guts will feature case studies of patients with a variety of gut problems.

‘We’ve been living in the world of gut health for years now, and we’re bursting to take everyone on a journey of discovery – to educate, inspire and change lives like it has ours!’ the pair said.

A preview of the clip shows samples of the ‘perfect poo’ being dried down and put into tablet forms ahead of clinical trials.

‘What we’re looking to do is to take healthy bacterial from the guts of people and give them to people who have a condition, which we think we can make better by introducing that healthy bacteria back into their system,’ Dr Blair Merrick explains.

He shockingly adds that before his ‘revolutionary’ technique, the typical method used was ‘like a slurry or a liquid preparation.’

The clip then cuts to one of the poo donors, a ‘super pooper’, according to the programme.

Explaining how her poo is so ‘excellent’, she says: ‘I luckily had a really good upbringing of eating really balanced food, and I was always encouraged to exercise.’

Kira apparently makes up only 2% of the population who are eligible to donate poo to help others.

‘I was always born to do it!’ she jokes, about her ‘life-saving’ treatment, before handing over a parcel of her poo to the doctor.

Know Your S**T: Inside Our Guts airs on Channel 4 tonight at 8pm.
