EastEnders legend Anita Dobson is the latest star to join the cast of Doctor Who, and fans are already trying to guess who her character could be.

In a new announcement released by the BBC, the broadcaster revealed that the 73-year-old actor would be starring on the beloved sci-fi series, with It’s A Sin star Michelle Greenidge also joining the ranks of the programme.

Anita is best-known for starring as Angie Watts on EastEnders, a role she played from 1985 to 1988.

While little is known about who she could be playing in Doctor Who, some fans have started sharing theories, with some guessing that she could be playing the role of Ruby Sunday’s grandmother, with Ruby (Millie Gibson) being the Doctor’s new companion.

The new series of the show will kick off in November this year with three special episodes, which will coincide with the 60th anniversary.

It will see David Tennant return to the fold, playing the Fourteenth Doctor, before the Fifteenth iteration of the Time Lord makes his debut in the form of Sex Educatino’s Ncuti Gatwa.

Ncuti’s arrival will come over the festive period this year, with new companion Millie in tow.
