A month after he announced his break-up from long-time partner Dan McKee, Married at First Sight’s Matt Jameson has been pictured crying while being comforted by Marilyse Corrigan, who also appeared on the programme.

After being matched on the reality dating series back on the 2021 season, Dan and Matt became the first gay couple to try the experiment in Britain.

Having been paired up by experts Mel Schilling, Paul C Brunson, and Charlene Douglas, they went on to continue their relationship once cameras stopped rolling.

After marrying on TV the first time they met, the couple stayed together for two years, however recently said they were ‘better as friends’.

Dan, 28, and Matt, 40, announced their split with a social media post, assuring fans there was no bad blood between them.

In recent days, Matt was seen looking visibly emotional while walking a dog in Leeds, tearing up as he was comforted by Marilyse, who married Franky Spencer on MAFS but is now in a relationship with someone else from their series, Matt Murray.

It was the first time Matt had been seen publicly since announcing he was single.

Marilyse also shared a selfie of them together on Tuesday where they looked happy to be hanging out.

‘Always fun when around this one,’ she wrote, tagging him in the post.

When they announced that they’d gone their separate ways, Matt and Dan wrote that they had ‘been on an incredible adventure together the last two years’.

They added: ‘We have given ourselves every opportunity to make things work as a couple, but over the last few months we have realised that we are actually better as friends.

‘Break ups are never easy, even when amicable, but we can’t thank you enough for your support and kindness following our journey together.

‘There’s nothing but love and good energy between us, and we feel very lucky to have found each other in our lives. Just sadly not as a couple.’

They also said that they would ‘always continue to support one another’.

At the time Marilyse, 38, wrote in response to the announcement: ‘Guys… I’m so sorry to hear this today. You are both incredible individuals and you will lead wonderful lives now as friends. With the best memories to treasure. I love you both so much.’

A few months earlier, the couple had spoken publicly about plans for a real wedding.
