Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria Baldwin were seen in New York City on Friday evening after the actor was charged with involuntary manslaughter.

In November 2021, the 30 Rock actor, 64, accidentally discharged a firearm on the set of his film Rust, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, and injuring director Joel Souza.

Following a lengthy and highly publicised investigation, New Mexico District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies revealed this week that charges will be filed against both Baldwin and the project’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.

Baldwin’s lawyer has vowed to fight the charges, and described the decision as a ‘terrible miscarriage of justice’.

The father-of-seven, who is set to become a grandfather for the first time, has previously been seen after the charges were filed against him as he covered his face from cameras while walking down the street.

Later that evening the actor was spotted again, this time looking glum as he made his way down the street in the Greenwich Village area of NYC.

Dressed in all black, the My Sister’s Keeper actor had no time for the cameras as he moved quickly past them with the help of staff.

Hilaria, who recently gave birth to the couple’s sixth child together, was also snapped in the Greenwic areah, looking cool and keeping her face straight as she covered her eyes with large dark sunglasses.

She made her way across the street briskly, carrying a clutch purse and wearing a tartan coat and heeled boots, her hair pulled back in a ponytail.

Baldwin has yet to speak publicly on the update in the Hutchins case.

The actor was handling the gun when it went off on set, killing the mother-of-one, but has always maintained that he did not know it contained a live round.

It was confirmed on Thursday that charges of involuntary manslaughter would be brought against the actor, with District Attorney Carmack-Altwies saying there was ‘sufficient evidence.’

‘After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the state of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and other members of the Rust film crew,’ she said in a statement on Thursday.

‘On my watch, no one is above the law, and everyone deserves justice.’

Discussing the outcome, Baldwin’s lawyer, Luke Nikas – of Quinn Emanuel – said via PA: ‘This decision distorts Halyna Hutchins’ tragic death and represents a terrible miscarriage of justice.

‘Mr Baldwin had no reason to believe there was a live bullet in the gun – or anywhere on the movie set.

‘He relied on the professionals with whom he worked, who assured him the gun did not have live rounds.

‘We will fight these charges, and we will win.’
