Christine Lampard has revealed she ‘nearly drowned’ as a child, before being saved by her dad.

The Loose Women star joined Denise Welch, Gloria Hunniford, and Dame Kelly Holmes as they discussed overcoming their fears of water.

‘I nearly drowned when I was about seven or eight,’ she began.

‘I remember dad literally pulling me out of the swimming pool, and I remember that feeling.

‘So I was never a fan of it’.

She continued by saying that for charity, Christine overcame her fear of water by agreeing to water-ski 22miles across the English channel.

Talking about the challenge, Christine added that she had been told she would be ‘too exhausted’ to continue after falling into the water more than three or four times, but she actually fell in more than seven, she recalled.

The 43-year-old added: ‘It was so intense!’

‘If you face your fears sometimes, great things can come of it,’ Christine said, recalling the money raised.

Her story came after Denise conquered her fears by jumping into the sea, supported by none other than Alison Hammond, who was stood by the water edge, recording it all.

Meanwhile, Gloria admitted that she also didn’t know how to swim, while Dame Kelly shared that she’s also had ‘bad experiences’ with water.

‘Cold water, I’m just so fearful,’ she began, explaining she was a ‘weak swimmer’.

While filming for Bear Grylls: Mission Survive, Dame Kelly recalled one mission in which the celebrities were tasked with swimming across a lake.

‘I just went, tried obviously, went on my side, went on my back, legs went under, I was underneath the water, managed to get my head up, went “I’m drowning!” the cameramen jumped in, they had to rescue me!

‘It was awful! I don’t know if I’ve ever got over that, yet I did go into the sea in Miami, I was well impressed with myself.’

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
