Good Morning Britain was plunged into darkness moments before Belinda Carlisle was due to be interviewed on Wednesday’s programme.
In the final 10 minutes of the show, presenter Susanna Reid announced the programme was suffering from a technical glitch after the lights had stopped working.
‘The lights have just gone out, but we have a super star here to brighten everything up,’ she told viewers before introducing the Heaven Is A Place On Earth singer, who joined both Reid and her co-host Ed Balls in the studio.
‘Good morning, Belinda,’ Reid then said. ‘You need to shine through the darkness because the lighting desk just crashed.’
Luckily, the equipment issue didn’t impact Belinda’s time on air, and she was able to talk about being part of the iconic supergroup she is a part of along with Dolly Parton, Debbie Harry, and Cyndi Lauper.

When asked whether she’d like to perform live on stage as a foursome, she told audiences: ‘Of course I would. It would be amazing. Who knows, maybe next year.’
Today’s episode of Good Morning Britain was an emotional one, with Reid leaving the studio to comfort the mother of missing X Factor star Levi Davis.

Levi’s mum, Julie, appeared on the programme to appeal for help to find her son, who disappeared in Barcelona, Spain, in October.
During her interview, Julie began to cry as she thought back to the last time she saw the missing rugby player, with Reid leaning across the desk to hold her hand.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
