The father of Love Island star Haris Namani has spoken out in his defence after a video emerged of the youngster punching a man to the floor in a street fight.

Footage of Haris, 21, sparring with another man in the street after a night out -said to be from last year – surfaced earlier this week on The Sun, with reports the TV salesman has since been dumped from the villa.

However, the islander’s dad Mehedin Namani has insisted that the clip is actually two years old and that the two men have since resolved any issue between them.

‘They’re friends, they shook hands,’ Mr Namani said. ‘This was a long time ago – it’s nothing.’

Speaking about his son, he continued: ‘He’s not a bad boy, he’s got a good record. He’s been brought up in the right way.’

He added to MailOnline: ‘This is just people who are jealous and they want to put him down.’

Haris’s friend has also insisted that the fight took place after a ‘misunderstanding’ and also maintained that there is no bad blood.

‘The kid who Haris punched is okay with him now,’ they told the publication.’It was a misunderstanding at that time. If you were speak with the kid who it was, the kid would not have anything bad to say about Haris.’

In the video, the reality star can be seen squaring up to the other reveller with the pair exchanging blows.

Eventually, Haris delivers a punch to the chest that causes the other man to lose his balance and fall to the floor.

‘I’m not a bully, I’m not a f***ing bully,’ he’s heard shouting during the altercation.
