Russell Crow is back. Not a typo, and not the actor – we’re talking about Russell the bird, who made his grand return to the This Morning studio on Wednesday, much to Holly Willoughby’s discomfort.

The bird was first featured on the popular ITV morning show six years ago and was brought back to the London studio this week by his doting owner Helen Motteram.

Poor Russell was one eye down this time around, having had the organ removed due to an abscess, but Holly, 41, was just as spooked by the animal as she was the first time it flew by the studio, even leaping behind co-host Phillip Schofield.

As 60-year-old Phillip got up to feed Russell, Holly crawled behind him and kept going until she reached the other end of the sofa.

Doting mum Holly quipped that she was just ‘battling through’ the ordeal, while Phillip looked to be having a blast while squeezing food into the animal’s mouth.

‘Can you go over there?’ Holly asked Phillip after he was given the all-clear from Helen to feed Russell.

‘I’m doing this to protect you,’ he replied as he put distance between her and Russell.

The presenter listened intently as Helen revealed that Russell was actually sleeping in her bedroom at the moment as he suffers from separation anxiety and doesn’t like fireworks.

Holly fared much better than she did when Russell first visited the studio six years ago, on which occasion she spent most of the segment cowering behind Phillip.

Helen adopted the animal back in 2016 after finding him outside a Cheltenham Prezzo.

Just before Christmas, Helen was forced to set up a crowdfunding page for Russell so she could pay for his eye surgery.

Russell Crowe the actor got wind of the fundraiser and coughed up $884 (£500) of his own money to go towards his feathery counterpart’s recovery.

‘A Christmas Miracle happened today as Russell Crow was given amazing support by a very famous actor with a very similar name,’ Helen wrote via her Facebook page.
