Love Island’s winter 2023 series has got off to a flying start, dishing up plenty of drama to keep us enthralled through the long dark winter nights.

The action from the villa in South Africa has so far included a huge fight kicking off between Zara and Olivia, Shaq and Haris almost coming to blows, as well as new arrivals from Love Island Australia and some dramatic recouplings – while for some the journey is over already.

There’s still plenty more to come as the action hots up – but with the series currently giving us a New Year treat, can we expect any more seasons of the show before 2023 is out?

Here’s how many Love Islands you’ll be getting this year…

Love Island fans will be spoiled in 2023, as they can look forward to two series of the show this year.

In addition to the winter series, the summer series will air as usual later in the year.

Although it’s way too early to say when this might start – after all, we don’t even know the finale date for the winter series yet – it usually begins some time in June and runs through to August.

So you’ll have a few months break before the romantic shenanigans return.

Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning and Controller, ITV2, said ‘Love Island has once again proved itself to be the nation’s favourite talking point across the summer, and we’re always blown away by the show’s ongoing impact and talkability amongst our younger audience.

‘So, rather than just serving up a Summer of Love, we thought we’d make 2023 the Year of Love with two full series of the show.’

Those who fancy their chances in the villa can apply for the series here.

This is the second time there has been a winter series of Love Island.

The only other winter series to date ran from January until late February 2020, and was won by Paige Turley and Finlay Tapp, who are still a couple, and live together in Manchester.

The pair said the series enabled them to find ‘everything that we’d asked for in a partner in each other’.

That series ended just weeks before the Covid pandemic forced many parts of the world into lockdown – with the ongoing situation forcing plans for a 2021 winter series to be shelved.

Love Island continues on ITV2 tonight at 9pm.
