Jill Scott may have won I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year but she still didn’t earn as much as Matt Hancock for their jungle stints.

The retired England international footballer emerged as Queen of the Jungle in the 2022 series while the MP found himself in third place, but it has now emerged he bagged an extortionate £320,000 payday.

Asked if her fee was ‘higher or lower’ than her former campmate, Jill – who runs her own Boxx2Boxx coffee shop in Northenden, Manchester – laughed and told Good Morning Britain: ‘A lot lower.’

She quipped: ‘If I’d got that, I could’ve opened another coffee shop.’

Appearing on Friday’s episode of GMB, the Lioness was also quizzed on the campmates’ WhatsApp group and she seemed surprised to hear Hancock may not actually be part of it.

‘We do have a WhatsApp group actually, so we’re all in there,’ she said, before Kate Garraway suggested the former health secretary might not be.

Jill added: ‘Is he actually not in? Oh, okay! I’ll check when I get off here, but I thought he was! But yeah, if there’s an event coming up like a birthday – I feel like I’ve just given a political answer there. I learned something from the jungle.’

She’s still in contact with her co-stars, while she’s closest to runner-up Owen Warner, and she admitted she’s going to be watching Manchester City and Arsenal’s FA Cup Fourth Round clash with the Hollyoaks actor this evening.

Asked who she’s in touch with most, she said: ‘Owen. I’m in London today and then I’m going straight back because we’re going to the Man City/Arsenal game together. I felt like he was like my little brother in there.’

Her comments come after it was confirmed on Thursday that Hancock had been paid £320,000 for his 30 days in the jungle.

Before taking part, it was revealed he would be making a donation from his huge payday in support of St Nicholas Hospice Care.

A spokesperson has since told Metro.co.uk: ‘As well as raising the profile of his dyslexia campaign in front of 11-million viewers, Matt’s donated £10,000 to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and the British Dyslexia Association, off the back of his appearance on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1.
