WWE’s Ricochet reveals what made Royal Rumble moment with Brock Lesnar so special-Alistair McGeorge-Entertainment – Metro
It was an all time classic.

Ricochet is hoping for a moment of magic in the WWE Royal Rumble tonight and he can take comfort from a clash with Brock Lesnar three years ago.
Back in 2020, the SmackDown star sent fans wild when he got revenge on the Beast Incarnate following an attack days earlier by kicking him between the legs and leaving him open to a Claymore from Drew McIntyre, ending Lesnar’s reign of terror in the 30-man match.
The roar of the crowd was incredible, and while it was McIntyre who went onto win the match and actually face Lesnar himself at WrestleMania 36, Ricochet exclusively told Metro.co.uk how special a moment it was.
‘We always have an idea of what we think will be cool or what we think will be good, we always have an idea, “Oh yeah, this sounds real good”, but you never know what the reactions really gonna be,’ he explained.
‘I dunno, this is one of those times where the reaction wasn’t even what we gonna be, it was crazy, it was even more than what we thought it was gonna be.
‘I think that goes to the story that had been told that whole Rumble, the story of Brock dominating. I think the reaction is a good sign of the story that had been told.’
For Ricochet, everyone involved deserves credit for making something that resonated so well with fans in attendance and watching around the world at home.
‘For that to come together so well – even the camera guy who didn’t even really have me in the screen, you just see me step in and do it,’ he gushed. ‘Everything came out so well.’
Wrestling is a unique artform – it’s called sports entertainment for a reason – and there’s no guarantee that something will click with the fans in a way that the performers hoped.
‘Again, you have an idea going into it but you never know what’s gonna happen coming out of it. It just happened so magically,’ Ricochet explained. ‘It’s one of those times where everything just clicks.’
He smiled: ‘You can see the crowd literally just explode, it was nuts! It was really, really nuts.’
WWE’s Royal Rumble will broadcast live from the Alamodome, San Antonio tonight (January 28) at 1am. Tune in on the WWE Network or on BT Sport.
