I’m a model and here’s why the clothes you order online NEVER look like they do in pictures

A MODEL has taken to TikTok to reveal why the clothes you order online NEVER look like they do in pictures – and people can’t believe they didn’t realise.

Madeleine, known online as @madeleine_white, regularly shares fashion tips and behind-the-scenes information about her career as a model.

Madeleine took to TikTok to share how brands make their clothes look so great online – even during the catwalk videosTikTok/@madeleine_white

In a new video, she reveals some ‘tricks of the trade’ – including how clothing brands make their items look so desirable online.

She said: “So you just bought this dress online, but then it came and it just, kind of, looks like this.

“Like it’s the same, but it’s not giving the same.

“That’s because it was pinned.”

Quoting someone arguing against her, she added: “No, no, no, but they had a video of the model doing a catwalk where she turns around and there are no pins’.”

Madeleine then goes on to act out what she’s seen happen on some photoshoots.

She claims the photographer or the person running the shoot will stop the model partway through their catwalk, re-pin the dress so as not to reveal what they’ve done to the camera, and then ask her to continue.

She then mimics another argument, adding: “No, it was lingerie. You can’t fake lingerie’.”

The content creator then stuffs her bra with socks, suggesting that’s one-way brands make their lingerie look more appealing online.

“Sure you can. At my very first casting for Victoria’s Secret, they didn’t even take a picture of me until they stuffed the bra twice.

“But why am I telling you this?

“This is me on my very first modelling job for, who guessed it, L’Oreal.

“Not one, not two, not three, four full sets of hair, virgin hair extensions, dyed to match my hair colour and then glued to my head for one day.

“The extensions had security, they were worth so much money.

“At the end of the day, they just ripped them out.

“People have been tricking you into buying things forever.

“The fashion brands are doing it, the beauty brands have always been doing it.

“I’ve even been a foot model. They didn’t like that the model had a size 12 foot in a shoe ad, so they had me come in with my little seven, just to be the feet.

“Is it transparent? Does it help to build a relationship with your audience? No.

“But do I think you should keep up the same energy next time you see a skincare or a makeup or a clothes commercial on the TV, and direct it at those huge brands as opposed to one person?”

This final comment came in response to backlash content creator Mikayla Nogueira received his week, after fans claimed she put on false lashes when sharing her first impressions on a new mascara.

Fans loved Madeleine’s honesty, with the video gaining more than 927,000 likes and 4.4 million views.

In the comments, the model’s followers shared their reactions, with one writing: “It’s insane how easily they trick us.”

Madeleine replied: “Yep and it’s not just one, it’s ALL!”

Another said: “I’m a fashion photographer and learning this stuff was eye-opening! Not to mention the retouching.”

A third wrote: “Love this!”
