Tommy Lee Royce (James Norton) has officially evaded the police and is hiding in a safe house, which can only spell trouble for Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire) in Happy Valley.

The opening of season 3 episode 5 saw Rob Hepworth (Mark Stanley) report the murder of his wife Joanna Hepworth (Mollie Winnard) to the police, with Catherine instantly pointing the finger at him.

Of course, we know it’s bent pharmacist Faisal (Amit Shah) who bludgeoned Joanna after a heated argument before administering her a lethal dose of ketamine and stuffing her body into a suitcase.

Elsewhere, Tommy has made it safely out of Leeds, while Catherine, Clare (Siobhan Finneran) and Neil (Con O’Neill) are staying at a pal’s house, to put them (hopefully) out of harm’s way.

Ryan (Rhys Connah), meanwhile, has learned more about his father’s evil crimes, but still seems reluctant to believe he is a monster, entertaining the idea of fleeing to Spain with him.

It was a nail-biting episode and it’s clear no-one is safe. Here are all the questions we have after watching Happy Valley season 3 episode 5.

Will Rob get charged with Joanna’s murder?

After discovering her body in a suitcase, Rob did the right thing and called the police to report her murder, rather than running off.

However, given his history of coercive control and domestic violence, with Catherine previously trying to convince Joanna to move to a shelter, he is currently prime suspect number one.

Meanwhile, the real murderer, Faisal, has no known link to Joanna, but one detective seems hell-bent on tracking down her drug dealer – will they uncover the truth?

Is Faisal beginning to crack and will he come clean?

In a moment of horrendous violence and rage, Faisal killed Joanna and covered up his tracks, knowing that the finger would likely point at Rob.

But when his wife and children were spying on all the commotion, speculating accurately there was a dead body in the Hepworth household, Faisal began to crack.

The drug-dealing pharmacist was also haunted by visions of the killing – will he be able to withstand the pressure and the potential scrutiny?

Will Tommy go through with his plot to kill Catherine?

Tommy’s main joy seems to be tormenting Catherine and destroying her life, as well as everyone’s connected to her.

As he was picked up by criminal mastermind Darius Knezevic (Alec Secareanu) after breaking out from court, he revealed his plans to kill Catherine.

He asked the gangster to provide a gun, but Darius refused, saying that while he couldn’t control Tommy’s impulses, he strongly advises him not to murder the sergeant. But will Tommy listen?

Will Ryan run away with Tommy?

Tommy might have serendipitously (for him) walked into the perfect circumstances to whisk Ryan away to Marbella.

A furious Ann (Charlie Murphy) told the teenager the truth about his mother and Tommy, calling him ‘unwanted’ by everyone, while Catherine, when Ryan said he loved her, did not respond in kind.

From the safe house, Tommy contacted Ryan via a gaming console telling him his plans to escape to Spain, with Ryan agreeing to think about joining him. As he’s vulnerable and has been rejected by his family, will he agree to go?

Happy Valley continues on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
