Phoebe Waller-Bridge is reportedly working on a Tomb Raider series for Amazon.
The Fleabag star and creator is currently adapting the classic 90s video game franchise as a part of her newly renewed deal with Amazon Studios.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 37-year-old writer is tipped to pen the scripts and serve as executive producer but is not expected to feature in the lead role.
The outlet claims that Phoebe – who also created the smash hit series Killing Eve – will be working alongside Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt on the development side of the show.
Last year, Amazon Prime Video announced it had greenlit a series from Phoebe, but no details have been made available – although the outlet added this isn’t the Tomb Raider project.
However, it’s part of a wider deal the star signed with the platform in 2019.

She said at the time: ‘I’m insanely excited to be continuing my relationship with Amazon. Working with the team on Fleabag was the creative partnership dreams are made of. It really feels like home. I can’t wait to get going!’
The original 1996 Tomb Raider video game prompted a number of sequels – before being revived in 2013 while there were also promises last year of another version – and a 2001 movie starring Angelina Jolie as the games’ protagonist Lara Croft.
That proved successful enough to warrant a sequel in 2003, and Alicia Vikander assumed the role of the assassin in the 2018 remake, with Camilla Luddington, Keeley Hawes and Minnie Driver taking on the role in a number of video game.
Hayley Atwell also voiced the character in a Netflix anime series, and other actress have made it known they would be up for potentially tackling the role of Lara, such as The White Lotus star Aubrey Plaza.
