WWE superstar Zelina Vega has revealed she missed months of action in 2022 after rupturing a breast implant.
The 32-year-old wrestler, who returned to SmackDown as the manager for Legado Del Fantasma in October after a seven month absence from television, has opened up on the reason for her lengthy break.
Zelina didn’t reveal when the injury actually happened or who she was against, but it occurred when she took a Northern Lights Suplex from another WWE star.
Appearing on Anna Faris Is Unqualified, she explained: ‘It never happens on some really cool move or some crazy flip I did outside the ring. It’s always the littlest thing that will happen, and that’s how you get injured.
‘Knock on wood, I actually hadn’t had any serious injuries until that point. It wasn’t even really that bad.
‘This is silly, but one of my best friends and I were in a match, and she had given me this one called a Northern Lights Suplex, where basically she kind of flips me over her backwards, and her shoulder went into my chest, and I ruptured an implant.’
Zelina revealed she actually tried to focus on the positive because she ‘wanted them bigger anyway’ so this gave her the opportunity to do so.
She added: ‘But me, of course looking on the bright side, I was like, well they are 10 years old anyway, and I kind of wanted them bigger anyway. So it ended up working out.

‘Lately I’m like, “I should have gone a little bigger, I don’t know”. [laughs] Why not?’
It’s not the first injury of its kind in wrestling, and back in December 2021 WWE star Scarlett revealed how a ‘busted’ implant halted plans for her in-ring debut for the company.
Recalling the moment she noticed something was wrong when she looked in the mirror after an untelevised match, she told Renee Paquette: ‘The next day was NXT and I immediately go to medical and I’m like, “Hey, I’m not sure if I’m going crazy or if [my boobs] always looked like this. Maybe I’m just tired.”
‘With the adrenaline from wrestling, you don’t notice certain things hurt all the time, so I didn’t think anything of it. I went to medical and they were like, “Yes, one of your boobs is totally gone.” ‘
WWE Raw (Mondays) and SmackDown (Fridays) air weekly at 1am on BT Sport 1.
