Frasier fans can’t cope as first script and episode title revealed in deleted tweet ahead of reboot-Rishma Dosani-Entertainment – Metro

It’s the beginning of a new era for Frasier Crane as the first table read has taken place for the upcoming reboot.

The series has been commissioned by Paramount Plus and will see Kelsey Grammer reprise his role as everyone’s favorite radio psychiatrist, nearly 20 years after the acclaimed sitcom ended.

Little else is known about the plot, but it is thought that the doctor will be surrounded by a new group of characters, with none of the original gang set to return.

Nicholas Lyndhurst has also joined the cast, alongside Jess Salgueiro, Anders Keith and Jack Cutmore-Scott – who will star as Frasier’s son, Frederick.

Taking to Twitter, casting director Jeff Greenberg – who worked on the original as well as Cheers, Modern Family and Ugly Betty – gave us all a glimpse of what to expect in a now-deleted tweet.

Sharing a picture of the script during the first table read, which has since been removed from the platform, he simply wrote: ‘And so it begins. Again.’

The pilot was written by Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris, with James Burrows in the director’s chair.

It will be titled The Good Father, but it is not clear whether this could possibly allude to Martin Crane, after John Mahoney’s death in 2018.

Fans were delighted with the update and flooded Jeff’s post with excitement for the episodes.

A follower penned: ‘One of my favorite shows growing up!! Can’t wait to see where it goes!’

‘I’m just watching reruns right now,’ one commented. ‘This show has been such a go to comfort over the years.

‘Wishing you and all the team best of luck. And yes I do want to come and do an episode! Xx.’

Another said: ‘The tossed salads and scrambled eggs are calling again..!’

Others were fearful that their emotions would be too much to handle by the time the episode airs.

‘I love Martin as a character and so sad he isn’t around anymore,’ a Twitter user penned. ‘I assume looking at the title it starts off explaining his ending and moves on to new beginnings. Very excited but will no doubt shed a few tears.’

As a fan added: ‘Please tell me that title isn’t referring to Martin, because if it is, I won’t make it through the episode without crying. My father sons, and I all shared such a love for the series.

‘We lost my dad in 2018, so if the first episode is about Martin, I won’t last.’

Frasier, a spin-off of Cheers, first hit our screens in 1993 and was an instant hit with fans and critics alike.

It followed the medical professional as he returned to Seattle for work, reconnecting with his dad Martin Crane (John Mahoney) and brother.

Last year, Kelsey lifted the lid on preparations so far and revealed that he cried while running through the first episode.

‘There are a couple of other things coming up,’ he said while appearing on The View. ‘We’ve developed a couple of other projects that look like they’re going to shoot first.’

‘We’re in the final stages of the final script for the first episode of the Frasier reboot. It looks pretty good.

‘I’ve had a couple of runs through it, and I’ve cried, so you know, I’m happy.’
