WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Beth Phoenix terrorised The Judgment Day on Raw as Cody Rhodes beat Finn Balor in his first singles match in almost six months.

The Royal Rumble winner, who confirmed he will face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, found himself against Balor in the main event while Edge and the Glamazon made their presence felt.

The night started with the American Nightmare recapping his whole journey in wrestling, including leaving WWE and making his sensational return, before the Judgment Day interrupted.

Balor, Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio taunted him, but Edge came out to attack everyone on the stage and Cody joined in the fun.

In the main event, Cody and Balor faced off in a first time ever singles match and proved why they’re regarded as two of the best in the world.

Partway through, Judgment Day started to get involved but Edge appeared through the crowd and took the fight to Priest and Dom, with Rhea jumped on him until Beth Phoenix laid her out with a Spear.

Amid all the drama, Cody escaped the Coup de Grace before three Cross Rhodes in a row helped him to victory.

Rhea Ripley picks WrestleMania opponent, Elimination Chamber qualifiers start and more

As announced before Raw, one of the Elimination Chamber matches in March will see Austin Theory defend his United States Title in the hellish structure and so the qualifying matches got underway on Monday night.

In the opening bout, Seth Rollins defeated Chad Gable in a fantastic clash between two of the best in the world.

In the end, the Visionary scored the win with a Pedigree, but the Alpha Academy star more than held his own against a top tier opponent.

Iyo Sky, accompanied by her Damage CTRL pals Bayley and Dakota Kai, picked up a win over Candice LeRae, who had Mia Yim with her at ringside.

Rhea Ripley came out to announce that after winning the Royal Rumble, she will be facing Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.

In the second Elimination Chamber qualifier, Johnny Gargano beat Baron Corbin in a fun clash of styles with Dexter Lumis and JBL playing into the ending.

Bobby Lashley accidentally hit MVP with a Spear (Picture: WWE)

In a rare edition of the VIP Lounge, MVP brought out his guest Austin Theory, who mocked Bobby Lashley until the All Mighty came out to shut him up, but the US Champion avoided a Spear and pulled MVP into the path of the move, leaving Lashley’s former Hurt Business association laid out.

In the next match, Adam Pearce made a suited and booted Miz face off with the returning Rick Boogs nine months after his injury at WrestleMania 38 as the popular star dominated the A-Lister and pinned him in a brief but entertaining re-introduction.

Bayley boasted about taking out Becky Lynch both on Raw last week and in the Rumble, which eventually brought out The Man to confront her rival.

There was a brutal line from the Role Model claiming Seth Rollins only proposed to Becky because her ‘knocked her up’, while eventually the latter challenge Bayley to a Cage Match next week.

She initially refused, but had to accept when Big Time Becks brought Dakota onto the stage with a chair wrapped around her ankle.

In the final Elimination Chamber qualifier of the night, Bronson Reed made relatively quick work of Dolph Ziggler and looked fantastic doing so.

Elsewhere during the show, in backstage segments we saw Carmella make her return only to be terrified by Asuka and a mouth full of blue goo, Chelsea Green kicked off her Karen character as she made some demands of the ‘manager’ Adam Pearce, and we found out Liv Morgan, Asuka, Nikki Cross and Raquel Rodriguez have already qualified for the Elimination Chamber match.

The winner will go onto face Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Title at WrestleMania 39, and next week the final spot will be decided in a Fatal 4 Way between Carmella, Piper Niven, Candice LeRae and Mia Yim.

WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
