No Time for Sergeants actor Kevin O’Neal dies aged 77-Stella Akinwumi-Entertainment – Metro
The actor is the younger brother of Oscar nominated star Ryan O’Neal.

Actor Kevin O’Neal, who is also the younger brother of Oscar-nominated star Ryan O’Neal, has died aged 77.
The actor’s nephew, Patrick O’Neal, announced the sad news, along with a touching tribute on social media.
O’Neal died on Saturday [January 28] in his sleep of natural causes in Thousand Oaks, California a family spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.
‘My dad’s brother, Kevin O’Neal, died Saturday morning (1/28/23)’ Patrick penned via Instagram.
‘My uncle passed in his sleep and didn’t suffer for which we are thankful.’
He continued: ‘Kevin had a wicked sense of humor, just like his older brother, and we have his stories to keep him in our hearts forever.
‘When Kevin walked into a room you heard him before you saw him. That energy and personality is an old O’Neal trademark. Heaven better be ready for him!’
Like his older brother Ryan, 81 – who starred in blockbuster hits including Paper Moon and Love Story – O’Neal worked as an actor in Hollywood.
O’Neal made his TV debut in 1961 in episodes of The Deputy, The Danny Thomas Show and The Donna Reed Show.

His most notable role was in the 1960s ABC comedy No Time For Sergeants, where he played Ben Whitledge.
He also appeared as the character Yale in one Elvis Presley’s final 1969 film The Trouble with Girls.
The late star featured in his brother’s films, The Big Bounce, Love Story, and What’s Up Doc?

O’Neal stopped working in Hollywood in the late 1970s. His last film was 1975’s At Long Last Love with Burt Reynolds and Cybill Shepherd; he had a bit part as the telegram bellboy.
He is survived by son Garrett; brother Ryan; niece Tatum; and nephews Griffin and Patrick.
