You creators had plans in the works to bring Jenna Ortega back for season 4 – but she was too busy filming Wednesday.

The 20-year-old starred as Ellie Alves in the second season of the creepy Netflix drama, befriending murdering psychopath Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley).

Not long after, she was cast as Wednesday Addams in the Tim Burton series, which sees the character thwart a killing spree terrorising the town and solve a 25-year mystery involving her parents.

The Addams Family spin-off became a blockbuster hit, holding the record for the most hours viewed in a week for an English-language TV series on the streaming giant.

You showrunner Sera Gamble revealed they had very much planned to bring Ellie back for season 4, which debuted this week and sees Joe assume a new identity and befriend a gang of corrupt toffs in London.

But Jenna’s schedule for Wednesday got in the way, with Sera explaining: ‘We wanted to bring Ellie back and we heard, “Oh, Jenna is doing some show,”

The told IndieWire: ‘It’s been just such a pleasure to see Jenna this year. We have ideas for Ellie if her schedule allows her to visit us again.’

And due to the record-breaking success of Wednesday, which has been renewed for a second season, we can only imagine Jenna is even harder to pin down.

She’s also going to be appearing in the latest instalment of Scream, which follows Tara (Jenna) and sister Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) as they swap Woodsboro for New York.

The trailer dropped last month, showing the masked killer hunting the cast around the streets of the big apple, as their ‘shrine’ to previous Ghostfaces was revealed.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Jenna shed light on what horror fans could expect, explained that her character had to contend with her ‘suffocating’ sibling, as well as Ghostface’s attacks.

‘At the top of the film we see my character Tara avoiding her trauma and desperately trying to reclaim her teenage experience and become normal college student,’ she said.

‘There’s a lot of tension between her and Sam, she feels as though she’s too protective and unwilling to allow them both to move on. She feels suffocated.

You and Wednesday are available to stream on Netflix.
