Viewers were left scratching their heads when the Brit Awards showed a repeat of an old Adele performance.

Alas, even the biggest night in British music isn’t immune to ‘technical difficulties.’

Presenter Mo Gilligan remained extremely professional, though, as he smoothly cut to footage of Adele belting out her tune I Drink Wine at last year’s bash.

However, viewers couldn’t help but note how ‘chaotic’ the moment was, as the Brits was forced to use an ’emergency tape’ to salvage the show.

It wasn’t made clear what exactly the technical issues were, although, audiences at home did notice several blunders throughout the night when ITV tried, but failed, to censor artists who swore.

The night started with Aitch dropping the S-bomb in the first acceptance speech of the night, followed shortly afterwards by Becky Hill doing the same.

‘I’m s****ing myself,’ Aitch joked, before Becky, who won best dance act, said her pre-planned speech was ‘going to go to s**t’ due to her nerves.

Daisy May Cooper later made a gag with drug references when mentioning seeing Sugababes in the loo.

To top it all off, Wet Leg used their opportunity when accepting best group to exclaim: ‘F**k the Tories.’

Despite some of the above moments being slightly censored, the words could definitely still be heard on TV, and they didn’t go unnoticed.

Regardless, viewers were living for the chaos, which just goes to show that anything can happen in the world of live telly!

There was definitely some confusion too, though, as many questioned why exactly a previous Adele performance was airing to fill the time, especially as she wasn’t even there, nor was the singer nominated.

One viewer tweeted: ‘This has been the most chaotic two & a half hours wtf have I just watched I don’t think I’ll ever get over them airing an old adele performance because of technical issues??’

‘Not them showing a video of Adele from last years show to try and save this train wreck of a show’, another joked.

‘They are just repeating an old Adele performance? Have they ran out of ideas?’, another penned.

On the other hand, some Brits fans did welcome the opportunity to enjoy Adele’s heavenly vocals once more.

‘That’s a first. A technical hitch but grateful to re-watch Adele’s 2022 performance The I Drink Wine video deserves an award while we’re at it,’ one person tweeted.

This year’s Brits saw Harry Styles well and truly clean up, as the As It Was hitmaker took home all four awards that he was nominated, just one week after taking home two Grammys.

These gongs included album of the year for Harry’s House, as well as artist of the year, after the Brits received backlash for only nominating male artists in the now gender neutral category.

Harry also kicked off the show in style with an energetic performance, with the likes of Lizzo, Sam Smith, Kim Petras, and Stormzy later taking to the stage, before David Guetta, Becky Hill, and Sam Ryder closed with an epic dance medley.
