Metroid Prime 2 and 3 remasters still coming to Nintendo Switch insists insider-Michael Beckwith-Entertainment – Metro

They won’t be getting the full remaster treatment, but the Metroid Prime sequels are apparently still planned for Switch as well.
After what feels like an eternity of rumours, the Metroid Prime remaster is finally available digitally on Nintendo Switch, with a physical release still to come in March.
However, one detail from those rumours that’s almost been lost amongst the hype is that both its sequels – Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption – are meant to be seeing some kind of re-release as well.
Both Emily Rogers and Jeff Grubb, two noted and well regarded Nintendo insiders, made separate claims in the past, with the latter recently assuring fans that, yes, that plan has not changed.
Originally, according to Rogers, the plan was to ‘remake/remaster the entire trilogy,’ though Grubb claimed many months later that only the first game would see a full remaster.
Metroid Prime 2 and 3 will supposedly still be remastered but not to the same extent as the first game. So, they’ll feature updated controls but the graphics will be left as they are, as opposed to Metroid Prime Remastered which has had a very noticeable glow-up.
In the wake of the first game’s re-release, Twitter user MaxLWright pondered if this was still the case. Grubb responded with a simple ‘Correct,’ meaning, as far as he knows, Nintendo’s plans haven’t changed.
It would certainly make sense since the other two games aren’t as readily available nowadays. There was the Wii compilation from 2009, but the easiest way to get it is through the Wii U eShop, which is shutting down in March.
Plus, with Metroid Prime 4 seemingly still years away, re-releasing the entire trilogy will allow new fans, and even old ones, to catch up on the games’ story.
Nintendo hasn’t issued any updates on Metroid Prime 4 since its 2017 announcement, aside from the fact that development was completely restarted in 2019. Bandai Namco was rumoured to be helming the project, but Nintendo has since put Retro Studios (the original developer behind the Prime games) in charge.

As to when Nintendo will re-release the other two Prime games, presumably it’ll want them out before Metroid Prime 4 but since that lacks a release window that doesn’t narrow things down.
At the very least, Nintendo has admitted that it has more Switch games planned for beyond 2023, even amidst suspicions it’s readying new hardware for 2024.
