Dancing On Ice lost its fifth contestant after comedian Darren Harriott faced the skate-off for the second week in a row and failed to impress the judges.

Sunday night’s episode saw the contestants churn out performances to classic movie songs including tracks from Mary Poppins and High School Musical.

The 34-year-old star and his partner Tippy Packard scored the lowest alongside The Wanted singer Siva Kaneswaran who returned to the competition having missed a week due to illness.

Following a tense skate-off, it was ultimately decided Darren would be hanging up his skates while Siva glided into props week with partner Klabera Komini.

Darren accepted his fate gracefully and explained his feelings to hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

He told the presenter duo: ‘I lasted a lot longer than I expected. I thought I’d be out before the show started.

‘Honestly, thank you, thank you to everyone. I’ve never skated before Everyone’s been so nice, all the pros and all the celebs.’

The exciting evening welcomed Siva back into the fold following a week-long absence due to a chest infection.

Despite ending up in the bottom two, the star was praised for his performance to Elvis Presley’s A Little Less Conversation (JXL Remix).

Each judge expressed their worry over his ability to deliver after having a rest to recover however, it seemed the singer was well-prepped and rearing to go.

When asked how he was feeling he admitted he was still nursing the end of a cough and clutched his chest as he delivered the news.

Ashley Banjo said: ‘You’ve come so far and I was worried you would come back after the week off and even if you were at the same level, the rest of the competition might have just stepped up a notch but absolutely not.’

Darren’s dumping came after EastEnders star Patsy Palmer left the competition last week having lost out to the comedian.

The week before saw the departure of Love Island’s Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu who became emotional on learning her skating journey had come to an end.

Elsewhere, Joey Essex sparked concern among audiences after he offered fans a glimpse of a severe-looking injury he got while training for the ITV show.

Dancing on Ice continues Sundays at 6:30pm on ITV
