A Jaguar previously owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II has been donated by Chris Evans’ CarFest as a prize for Red Nose Day.

A whole host of celebrities have already been confirmed to host and perform on the night and BBC Morning Live’s Gethin Jones will be taking part in a 24 hour danceathon to raise money for the event.

During this year’s event, one lucky winner will have the chance to take home a piece of history, and the money raised will support people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis and tackle issues such as homelessness, mental health problems, and food poverty in the UK and around the world

‘I’m so grateful CarFest is able to support Comic Relief,’ said radio presenter Chris.

‘I’m thrilled that we are able to donate this very special historic car, and so pleased to be able to share it with another enthusiast, especially for such an important cause.’

The 2009 Jaguar, which covered around 73,000 miles, was sold at auction in November 2022 by Historics for £43,000.

The late Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8 2022 at the age of 96, resulting in her eldest child succeeding her on the throne as King Charles III.

Samir Patel, chief executive of Comic Relief, said: ‘We are enormously grateful to Chris Evans and CarFest for this generous donation for Red Nose Day – this truly is a prize like no other we have ever been able to offer our supporters.

‘This is an extraordinary opportunity to own a real piece of history and will be such a special prize for the lucky winner.’

This year, the live TV event on BBC One will be hosted by AJ Odudu and Joel Dommett, alongside Zoe Ball, Paddy McGuiness and David Tennant.

Global superstar Kylie Minogue is set to make an appearance on this year’s show, in a special episode of BBC sitcom Ghosts and a parody of reality show Love Island will air on the night.

Last year’s event raised an incredible £42,790,147 for the cause and the organisers will be hoping to beat that total in 2023.

Red Nose Day 2023 airs on Friday, March 17, on BBC One.
