I’m plus size & hate that clothing brands don’t realise fat people don’t have fat heads – we need to yell to see change

A PLUS size fashion fan has called out fashion brands for their plus size measurements. 

Hannah took to TikTok to express her frustration at the sizes of head holes in clothing.

She said in a video online: “I need clothing retailers to realise that fat people don’t have fat heads.”

Hannah explained head sizes do not increase to match someone’s weight. 

She said: “The head size does not expand to the body size.”

She continued: “Like, this size head hole is insane.”

Hannah explained she felt the fashion brands were doing plus size shoppers a disservice. 

She said she believed the issue helped contribute to a negative narratives about plus sized people. 

She said: “And it just contributes to the idea that fat people aren’t put together.”

She continued: “No, you’re just not making clothes that fit right so it looks a little sloppy and that’s not on us.”

Hannah said when a head hole was too big on clothing she felt like it made her look less put together.

The fashion fan protested: “I’ve heard a few other plus-size creators speak on this and I think we need to yell about it until my wardrobe doesn’t look like THIS.”

Hannah’s video gained over 200,000 views.

Many viewers said they agreed with Hannah and expressed having similar issues with plus size clothing. 

One user said: “It’s like they take an image of the whole pattern and just click and drag the bottom corner.”

Another said:  “It’s because they just take a standard pattern and enlarge it, so all the measurements get bigger in all the wrong places.”

A third viewer said: “They don’t know how fat bodies work legit because I ordered a custom sweater and the neck hole was huge but the arm holes were tiny.”

Other plus size fashion fans said there were other plus size garments that are not measured correctly. 

One user said: “I also do not have a 4 ft long crotch….”

Another viewer said: “Why are tank top straps so long? like my torso is not 78in.”

A third user commented: “And the arm holes! They’re either too small or ginormous. They should be larger, yes, but not that much! You can’t just scale everything up the same.”
