Ludwig’s record of 280,000 subscribers has been broken by Kai Cenat, with even Twitch congratulating him on the achievement.

For a period, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins was considered the most popular Twitch streamer, boasting just over 260,000 subscribers.

That record was broken in 2021 by Ludwig Ahgren, better known as Ludwig, who reached more than 280,000 subscribers after streaming almost non-stop for a month.

Ludwig has held that record for nearly two years, even after leaving Twitch for YouTube, but he’s now been dethroned by Kai Cenat, who now has the most subscribed Twitch channel ever with 300,000+ subscribers.

Much like Ludwig, Cenat managed this by holding a month-long subathon where the stream was extended whenever a donation was made.

Twitch itself has acknowledged the accomplishment, congratulating Cenat via Twitter and sharing a clip of the moment Cenat broke 300,000 subscribers, with Cenat clearly grateful but exhausted from how long he’d been streaming for.

Ludwig has congratulated Cenat too, while also throwing some shade at Twitch by telling them to ‘pay the man before you lose another record breaker.’

He’s obviously referring to his own departure from Twitch, which he explained at the time was simply because YouTube offered him a much better deal.

Congrats to @KaiCenat for breaking the all-time subscriber record 🎉 very deserved@Twitch now pay the man before you lose another record breaker 😶

Cenat has run afoul of Twitch once already, having been temporarily banned in late January.

Although the reason behind the ban was never explained, it’s believed it was because he ate 100g worth of cannabis infused edibles and passed out live on stream.

Upon breaking the record, Cenat tweeted, ‘This journey has been amazing. Happy Black History Month,’ though he hasn’t followed up on what his future goals are. Probably because he’s fast asleep and recovering from the subathon.

While it’s an undeniable accomplishment, and one that probably won’t be broken for a very long time, the next question is whether Cenat will be able to maintain those high numbers.

Unlike follows on Twitch, subscriptions are paid for so it’s very likely some people will back out and unsubscribe for one reason or another.
