Richard Williams believes it’s time for everyone to ‘forgive’ Will Smith following the infamous incident at the Oscars 2022.
The Hancock actor, who won the best actor award for playing Serena and Venus Williams’ father in the film King Richard, stormed the stage and hit comedian Chris Rock after he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair.
Since then, Will, 54, has gradually picked up the pieces of his career and tarnished reputation and has since apologised to his former Fresh Prince co-star.
During Monday’s Good Morning Britain, Richard, 81, showed his support for the Hitch star after previously saying he didn’t ‘condone hitting anyone.’
‘I think he has done the best thing he needed to do, but I would never be disgusted with Mr Smith. Matter of fact, I appreciate Mr Smith,’ he said.
When asked how he felt about Chris, he added: ‘I don’t feel sorry for no one’ before insisting ‘it’s time for everyone to forgive Will Smith.’

Tennis legend Serena recently touched on Will’s behaviour during last year’s ceremony.
‘I thought it was such an incredible film, and I feel that there was an incredible film after that with Questlove that was overshadowed,’ Serena replied.

‘But I also feel that I have been in a position where I’ve been under a lot of pressure and I’ve made a tremendous amount of mistakes.’
Richard’s interview comes days after comedian Chris, 58, made comments about the slap during his Netflix special Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, which was the company’s first foray into live streaming.

He said: ‘You all know what happened to me, getting smacked by Suge Smith. Everybody knows. Yes it happened, I got smacked like a year ago.
‘People were like, did it hurt? It still hurts. I got Summertime ringing in my ears. But I’m not a victim baby, you’ll never see me on Oprah crying. You will never see it. Never going to happen.’
