I work in TK Maxx and customers always ask the same annoying question – they hate our answer, but it’s not our fault

A TK Maxx employee has revealed the question customers always ask – and said they’re always unhappy with the answer.

Rummaging through the racks for a bargain and finding it in your size is all part of the discount retailer’s charm.

But it can be frustrating if the exact item you’re looking for doesn’t seem to be there – or you’re after a set of four mugs and there’s only three on the shelf.

So it’s unsurprising that many shoppers flag down a member of staff to ask them if the product in question could be in the stock room.

This, however, is where one worker said problems arise – and customers are often left feeling put out.

The TK Maxx employee revealed: “The stock room doesn’t exist. If it’s not on the shelf, it’s not there.

“We do get new stock every day. It’s just a game of chance. We don’t use the stock room to store stock as it normally goes straight out after it’s delivered.

“Lot of folk still ask us to check in the back for other sizes though. I don’t think it’s common knowledge that we don’t keep stock in the back.

“And they always seem annoyed when we don’t go and check, but there’s no point. We know it’s not there.

“The only thing they can do is keep checking back in store in case we get more stock or another customer returns an item.”

We told earlier how shoppers are rushing to TK Maxx to buy £110 air fryers that have been slashed by more than half price.

The nifty kitchen gadgets regularly sell out thanks to how good they are at making everything crispy.

The off-price retailer is flogging three different air fryers for more than 50% off.

And fans of the discount retailer will be excited to know they are planning to open dozens of new stores.

TK Maxx is reportedly looking for new locations as part of expansion plans.

The chain, which currently has around 350 stores in the UK already, is eyeing up over 28 new sites, according to The Evening Standard.
