Jamie Lee Curtis could not hide her joy as her Oscar was engraved following her best supporting actress win.

The Hollywood icon received the accolade for her role as IRS auditor Deirdre Beaubeirdra in surreal comedy-drama Everything Everywhere All At Once at the 95th Academy Awards.

The film swept up a number of awards at the glittering ceremony, including best motion picture of the year, performance by an actor in a supporting role for Ke Huy Quan, performance by an actress in a leading role for Michelle Yeoh, achievement in film editing, original screenplay, and achievement in directing for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

Curtis delivered an emotional speech following her first Oscars win, beating out Angela Bassett, Hong Chau, and Kerry Condon, and even co-star Stephanie Hsu for the accolade.

She gave a shout-out to her ‘bae’ Yeoh, before explaining: ‘I know it looks like I am standing up here on my own but I am not.

Following Curtis’ win, fellow nominee Bassett, who was up for the gong for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has been defended for not clapping when Curtis was named the winner.

A camera caught the reactions of all five nominees as Curtis’s name was called out, and while the other actresses applauded despite their loss, Bassett appeared deflated and did not join in congratulating the winner.

Many fans took to social media to defend her actions and commend her for not faking a reaction.

Despite her loss, Bassett did receive a shoutout from Jonathan Majors and Michael B Jordan, who arrived on stage to present best cinematography.
