We always knew Meryl Streep starring in Only Murders In The Building was going to be iconic – but the trailer has just made us even more excited.
It was confirmed in January that the award-winning actress, 73, would be joining season 3 of the Hulu mystery show, starring alongside Selena Gomez, 30, Steve Martin, 77, and Martin Short, 72.
The ‘whodunnit’ programme follows Mabel (Selena), Charles (Steve), and Oliver (Martin) at the Arconia, a prestigious New York building, as they attempt to solve crimes.
And the one and only Meryl is set to join their adventures, after the final scene of season 2 introduced us to new character Ben Glen, played by Paul Rudd.
Well, we say ‘introduced’, but Paul’s stint on the show was short-lived, as the season 3 trailer opens by reminding us of Ben’s death.
His character collapses while performing on stage, after which Oliver exclaims: ‘This really happened again?!’, in disbelief.

Mabel then quips: ‘Well, you know, who are we without a homicide?’
She asks Charles if he’s down for another investigation, to which he eagerly says: ‘Yeah!’
The season 3 trailer really doesn’t give much away about Meryl’s role and she literally only says a few words – but she’s already stolen the show.
Following a montage of clips, the trailer cuts to a table read, where actors are sitting reading their scripts.

The Mamma Mia! star is then introduced, as a voiceover says: ‘One of the best shows on television is back… with a surprise you never saw coming.’
‘Oh, it’s me!’, Meryl says excitedly, before bursting into laughter.
‘I’m sorry, it’s me, isn’t it?’
The 38-second clip ends with a grinning Ben summing up how we’re all feeling about the new episodes: ‘I’m so psyched!’
A release date for Only Murders in the Building season 3 is yet to be confirmed, but it’s expected to land sometime in summer.
Meryl, of course, isn’t the only celebrity to have made a cameo in the award-winning show.

Other iconic guest stars over the last two seasons have included Amy Schumer, Cara Delevingne and actual Sting playing himself.
Meanwhile, despite Marvel star Paul’s character meeting his maker pretty early on, series co-creator John Hoffman has suggested Ben will still be a prominent part of the upcoming episodes.

A statement shared with Variety read: ‘Paul Rudd, after making an auspicious entrance into the world of our show at the end of Season 2 as Ben Glenroy, is someone we clearly want to know more about and see in our upcoming Season 3 — as he is a clear source of many upcoming questions and, as ever with our show, many twists yet to come!’
We are so ready!
Only Murders In The Building is available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.
